Each one of the five knitted jackets has 38,883 stitches, running along a single thread, one after the other, with no seams. Interlacing the stitches, while
adding and subtracting individual stitches along the body, creates a three dimensionally shaped shell, point by point. The path of the thread can be
discerned in the pattern; here, the three dimensionally shaped shell is printed on two dimensions, showing all of the relationships between the stitches.
The three-dimensional object is supplemented by the drawing, while its third dimension is removed. It is left up to the owner to decide if the object is
meant to be reserved for viewing, or if it is a functional item whose shell and label are simply part of the packaging that can be discarded.
